Autobots Roll Out, Decepticons Attack!

They have arrived!!! After months of intense promo, teaser trailers, news-feed and waiting, The Transformers have finally arrived in Malaysia. I am super excited by the hype given for this movie and can't wait to finally watch it when it premieres on the 28th June 2007!

Will the movie rock or bomb? I have great expectations for the movie and I'm hoping the teaser trailers are just the tip of the iceberg for a story that offers so much potential. Let's hope for Transformers fans alike, it'll be something to remember (positively) for years to come.

Penang Here I Come

In about 24 hours I'll be making my way to Penang for the 2007 Penang Bridge Marathon Run. No, I'm not participating in the run (perhaps i'll try it next year) but on official business there. Having stopped running for the past 2 years, I noticed a dramatic change in my fitness levels and also physical outlook.

Then - My Running Days

Now - I'm a Prisoner in my own body

I hereby make a promise to myself I'll start running again after the trip to Penang. However, this will still give me a good excuse to indulge on some well known Penang food like Char Koay Teow, Asam Laksa, Rojak and Sotong Bakar. I'm already salivating thinking about it.

Excursion to Kampung Subang & Sg. Buloh

I was called upon to go food hunting within the heart of Kampung Subang on a lazy Saturday. As the name suggests, Bak Kut Teh (BKT) was the forte of the restaurant, however it's not BKT that I'll be sampling for this trip, as I was recommended to try out the Claypot Loh Shue Fun (called Mice Noodles errr don't ask why but i guess the noodles look like mouse tail) instead. Add to the fact that the rest had started and were almost finished with their food when I arrived ... thus I had no chance to try out the BKT this time around.

Chong Fue BKT

There's nothing much to shout about the claypot noodles ... however there is a special mention for the Yellow Wine Chicken (direct chinese translation). Usually associated as 'food therapy' for women who had just given birth, I have developed a liking for this particular dish quite recently. With a combination of Yellow Wine, slices of ginger and chicken this dish time and time again simply sends my taste buds tingling with satisfaction. In fact, those who have a low alcohol threshold can also enjoy this dish as the amount of Yellow Wine will not be too intoxicating.

Awww man ... just left with ... errr .. leftovers

Geez you guys sure eat alot

Specialties: Bak Kut Teh (Did not try though), Claypot Loh Shue Fun served with pork and vegetables, Yellow Wine Chicken
Stall Location: Along Kampung Baru Subang, the road leading to TUDM
Business Hours: Unknown
Rest Day: Unknown
Type of Food: Chinese, Non-Halal
Value for Money: Not Bad
Parking: Ample parking space

A trip to Sg. Buloh then was the payback for the free lunch. Not actually keen to go but since I have no plans for the day, just tagged along. The road leading to Sg. Buloh from Kg. Subang were not in good condition as expansion work was underway. The rain didn't help either making visibility poor ... so it was a slow journey all the way. Upon reaching our destination, I was fascinated by the wide array of flowers available and got my camera clicking.

After the rain...

Aren't they beautiful?

Flowers and more flowers

Papparazzi at work

Probably due to the good cold weather after the rain I was in a good mood and went exploring. Kim went crazy and picked things up like they were FREE. See how she filled the back seat of her car below.

Result of Flower Shopping The Crazy Way

Once Flower Shopping was over, we then moved on to the next stage... Planting them... The slight drizzle didn't deter us from achieving our objective of putting up all the flowers.

Very satisfying work indeed after 2 hours of gardening. But for now ... no more gardening for me ....

Lazy Weekend Post

Where do you get your dosage of Bak Kut Teh(BKT)? I swear by BKT's from Klang. Developing a craving for BKT all of a sudden but without much time (to go to Klang and back to catch Shrek 3), decided to head down to SS14 in Subang Jaya for BKT instead. Well .... I do not know when it started but sometime back I don't remember any BKT shops in this area. One pops out and like mushrooms, the rest tag along on the new found fame and suddenly the place is known as BKT Street in Subang Jaya. You see, having so many BKT's along the same road confuses us. They all claim to be the original and us the poor souls have to try each and every one of them before we can come to a conclusion on which is the best.

I was recently introduced to this BKT Restaurant known as Restoran Ah Ping Bak Kut Teh (sounds like rojak language to me) so being one who have tried it, I recommended it to Kim. FYI if you're in SS15 McDonald's (McD's) you can actually see this BKT Restaurant as it's opposite McD's across the elevated highway.

Too Malas To Take a Better Photo

The BKT's here are actually good... good enough at least to rival 1 or 2 BKT eateries in Klang. The herbs and ingredients in the soup are not as strong as the ones you find in Klang but yet they have their own appeal. The BKT tasted satisfying enough with a good mixture of lean and fat meat together with various intestines. The vege served was fresh and tasted just right. Add to that some soy sauce, thick black sauce and chilli, it was a gratifying meal at least.

My Pot of Gold

A Well Balanced Meal

Specialities: Bak Kut Teh served with Rice and Chinese Tea
Stall Location: Jalan SS14 Subang Jaya (opposite SS15 McDonalds's and Metropolitan College)
Business Hours: 10.00am to 10:00pm (unless they are sold out)
Type of Food: Chinese, Non-Halal
Value for Money: Okay
Parking: Packed during office hours, otherwise ample parking space

However with our movie starting in 30 minutes, finishing everything in a mere 15-20 minutes was pure hell. You burn your tongue, sweat profusely, deep throat the meat (sounds kinky eh? i meant swallowing without much chewing actually) and also worry about not making it on time.

Finished our BKT in record time and rushed off to catch our movie. With our Movie Freak President carefully making prior plans and arrangements for the movie, I was determined not to be late for it unless I wanna get screwed. Hehehe ....

Return of The Green Ogre

Happy Family. Why Am I Never In These Nice Photos?

To be honest, Shrek 3 wasn't as enjoyable as Shrek 1 or 2, still for RM9 it's worth to watch it. Also something caught my eye.

Giant M&M

This piece of M&M caught my eye because I know Gumpkins will not hesitate to get one for himself. So I just enquired how much is it. The reply I got was this was for display only. Luckily Gumpkins wasn't there if not the conversation would have been something to this extent.

Gumpkins: How much is that Giant M&M?
Employee: Sorry Sir it's not for Sale.
Gumpkins: Name your price.
Employee: Sorry Sir it's not for Sale. This is meant for display only.
Gumpkins: You all S*H*I ah? Display only? Put out for what? Better don't put out. Make me see get itchy only!!! KNN CCB... You all so S*H*I dunno how to make money? You sell this thing I wouldn't mind paying a fortune for it or above market price also.
Employee: But Sir ... (interrupted halfway)
Gumpkins: But What? S*H*I .. la you ... Worse than a friend of mine.

Hehehe .... just imagining ....

FYI: Gumpkin's a M&M freak ..... He collects anything that is related to M&M's. So if you're short of cash and there's an M&M's memorabilia around(be it a wrapper, blow up doll, vibrator, chocolate, pencil box, dustbin, etc), please look for him la. He'll be happier than you at the end of the transaction. And If by any chance you're living in Ireland and you wanna earn some brownie points, you can surprise him with you know what la.

Journey Up Cameron Highlands

It was 6am in the morning when my Mobile phone alarm went buzzing madly. Wtf?? I just had about 4 hours sleep and I was supposed to be waking up now? Okay ... I came to my senses and recalled that I had plans for this long day. Pulled myself up and realised that the others were already waiting for me. Come 7:00 am we started our journey and coupled with some stops, we reached Bidor and filled our stomach with Duck Noodles from a coffee shop recommended by quite a number of friends. Just outside of it, there are roadside stalls selling various fruits and vegetables at prices that are not available back in KL.

Petai Business Area in Bidor. Happy tourists ....

Fresh Petai.. My Favourite. Each Bundle of Petai costs RM15. Are they expensive or what?

Came across this fruit stall ... selling Golden Fruit .. What the heck is this? I was told that you can't touch the fruit, otherwise it'll turn out not so nice when it's time to eat them. Hmmm ... Wonder how they pick and arrange it then?

Golden Fruit - PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ... Once touched, considered SOLD

Hehehe ... I Just Touched All of 'Em

We then proceeded with our journey towards Cameron Highlands. Little did I realise that it's such a long and winding trip up. Due to heavy rain the night before there were alot of fallen branches and tree trunks spewn across the road and due to the fact that I was lacking sleep, this made driving up there a little bit more dangerous than usual. I was all relieved when we finally arrived at Cameron Highlands safe and sound.

Huge Old Tree

Dropped by to the Cameron Temple and just outside the temple there is a monk known as 'Red Feet Monk' that is apparently good in reading one's fortune. He will not say much but according to those that has consulted him, his readings are very accurate. Add to that, he does not charge($) those who consults him.

Red Feet Monk

Cool Breeze outside the Temple

Continuing on, we made way to the Vegetable Farm and bought ourselves silly cartons of vegetables as they were dirt cheap.... DIRT CHEAP.

Aaahh .....

Wahhhhhh...

Grab A Bite...

No Coffee .. Only Tea... But What Tea?

Fly Trap (coated with honey and strawberries)

Strawberry Waffles and Juice

After treating ourselves to Strawberry Juice and Waffles, I was really exhaused and decided to grab a quick nap in the car while the rest went into the Cactus Farm. Here's what I missed out.

Cactus

Tell me frankly what they look like...

Alien Hands

We then made our way to the Boh Tea Centre but not before having the adventure of our lives driving to Nowhere Land (our guide guiding us to see nothing).

The place sure felt like heaven with the cold rain pouring and cool air breezing ... I just though I could live here forever. (After conducting a self assesment reality check, i thought otherwise). But still... Cameron Highlands is a decent holiday destination if you plan on a short break to ease your worries off work.
